Electrical wholesaler purchased by private investors

Richmond Electric Supply Company, Inc. has been sold to RESCO Acquisition, an investment group comprised of RESCO’s recently appointed CEO, Mike Bourn, and other private investors for an undisclosed sum.

Darryl Harman, who founded the company in 1983, was the seller. Matrix Capital Markets Group served as the financial adviser to RESCO Acquisitions.

OrePac Building Products signs up AZEK

Scranton, Pa.-based AZEK Building Products signed a distribution deal with OrePac Building Products, a building materials wholesaler serving the West and Pacific Northwest.   

Under the agreement, OrePac’s Denver, Colo., and Salt Lake City, Utah, branches will offer the full line of premium, exterior AZEK products.  OrePac’s Denver branch covers Colorado, Eastern Wyoming, Northern New Mexico and the Scottsbluff area of Nebraska, while the Salt Lake City branch covers Utah, Southwestern Wyoming, Eastern Nevada and Southeastern Idaho.

Emery-Waterhouse launches rebranding campaign at spring market

Emery-Waterhouse, the Portland, Maine-based distributor of hardlines and building materials, held its Marketplace 2012 at the Rhode Island Convention Center March 16 to 17, with the usual face-to-face meetings between customers, manufacturers, and Emery-Waterhouse representatives. But the Portland, Maine-based wholesaler also used its spring market to unveil the company’s new rebranding initiative.

Sales rise at HD Supply

Building products wholesaler HD Supply reported $1.82 billion in net sales for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011, a 14.8% increase over net sales of $1.59 billion for the same quarter of 2010.

Retailer, wholesaler form joint venture

A retailer who spent three decades working at Mazur’s Discount store chain has joined forces with a wholesaler to open a new hardware store outlet in Birmingham, Ala., according to an article in the Birmingham News.

Home and Hardware Outlet, which opened in early October, is co-owned by Keith Russell, who operates a wholesale business in Pelham, and Danny Lambert, who left a position as head of purchasing at Mazer's Avondale store five years ago and opened his own outlet store, Lake Home Center, in Pell City in 2007.

Cedar Creek to purchase wood wholesaler

Cedar Creek Wholesale, a building material distributor based in Oklahoma City, has agreed to purchase Wholesale Wood Products of Dothan and Birmingham, Ala. Financial details of the transaction were not revealed.

Wholesale Wood Products serves five southeastern states from two locations in Alabama and specialized in western red cedar and cypress. 

Cedar Creek has 12 locations in 17 states across the Midwest, Mid-south and Southeast.

Ace addresses 2011 strategy, supply chain

Chicago -- During a general session that included sales and marketing strategies for success, Ace Hardware Corp. executives also expressed disappointment in the co-op's wholesale performance during its recent supply-chain conversion.
