Armstrong World Industries has reshuffled its management structure, appointing Donald Maier to the post of EVP and CEO, Armstrong Flooring Products, in order to fill the vacancy left by Thomas Mangas.

Previously, Maier was serving as SVP global operations excellence. He has been with the company since 2010, during which time he played a pivotal role in the company's Lean transformation and established a new project management process and safety program.

He has also worked for TPG Capital Advisors and as VP and general manager of Hill-Rom's North American business.

Among the cadre of keynote speakers presenting at this year's Pro Dealer Industry Summit is Ken Wilbanks, a business consultant to the lumber, building materials and home center industry.

Wilbanks cut his teeth working for Home Depot, Lowe's, Ernst Home and Nursery, EBS Building Supply and other industry organizations, ranging from entry-level to executive roles. 

As a consultant, Wilbanks provides educational programs, financial and business process analysis, leadership development and executive coaching.

Gibson’s career includes 30 years of experience selling building products through wholesale distribution. He has 17 years of experience of product management for Spenard Builders Supply and 13 years travelling Alaska for Huttig Building Products as a territory manager.

Austin, Texas-based Epicor Software Corporation, a global leader in business software solutions for manufacturing, distribution, retail and services organizations, today unveiled the Epicor Eagle N Series.

The solution is described as next-generation retail management software for independent retail businesses. Part of the improvement is a simplified user interface, the company said.

Fort Wayne, Indiana-based Do it Best Corp. announced the retirement of one of its senior leaders while also transitioning another proven executive into a new position.   

Effective Oct. 24, Do it Best VP of Lumber and Building Materials Quent Ondricek will retire his position, while Gary Nackers, currently director of program development for LBM, will move into that role, effective Sept. 15.

Exterior building products manufacturer Ply Gem appointed Eric Spence senior VP sales and marketing for the Ply Gem Windows group.

In this newly created role, Spence is responsible for expanding Ply Gem Windows’ sales and marketing efforts, aligning the two functions under one common structure. He reports to Ply Gem Windows president Art Steinhafel, and is located at the Ply Gem corporate and windows group headquarters in Cary, North Carolina.

Michael H. McGarry, currently executive VP of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based PPG Industries, has been appointed to the post of chief operating officer.

McGarry will have executive oversight responsibility for all of PPG’s strategic business units and operating regions and for the information technology (IT), environment, health and safety (EH&S), and purchasing functions. He will remain based at PPG’s global headquarters in Pittsburgh and will continue to report to Chairman and CEO Charles E. Bunch.

The board of directors at Vulcan Materials Company has named Thomas Hill as its new president and CEO. He has also been elected as the company's newest board member.

In his new role, Hill will take the place of Donald James, who will remain on board as executive chairman. Hill was most recently serving as EVP and COO.

Universal Forest Products promoted two company veterans to new leadership roles in its eastern division: Patrick Benton and Jonathan West have been promoted to the new roles of executive VP of the North and South, respectively. The appointments are effective immediately.

The move is intended to bolster leadership and foster continued growth and success of UFP Eastern Division, a busy and growing territory that includes operations primarily east of the Mississippi River, the company said.

During the company's first-quarter earnings call with analysts and investors, Home Depot president U.S. retail Craig Menear spelled out four product introductions that he said will "generate a lot of excitement in the second quarter."

BMC, one of the nation’s major providers of building materials and construction services, is relocating its corporate headquarters from Boise, Idaho, to Atlanta. 

The West-to-East relocation will be done on a phased basis with the executive team moving immediately, the company announced. The Boise office will continue to remain operational.

Indianapolis -- Rich Lynch, who was named VP of marketing for Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Do it Best Corp. back in March, said he learned some valuable lessons about retail from his teenage years as a hardware store employee -- and also from his years as a marketing executive for Jim Beam.

Lynch met with the media here during the co-op's May Market. And with the words "helping members grow" stitched into his shirt sleeve, he talked about the importance of staying ahead of society's online movement and balancing all the "ingredients" of a successful hardware store.

Restoration Hardware Holdings has appointed Dr. Leonard Schlesinger to its board of directors. He will also serve as the chairman of the board’s compensation committee.

Dr. Schlesinger has held executive leadership positions at various retail and consumer brands, including vice chairman and COO of Limited Brands from 1999 to 2007, and is an esteemed leader in academia having served for more than 20 years as a professor of business administration at Harvard Business School, and as the president of Babson College.

Louisiana-Pacific Corp. announced that Archie W. Dunham retired from the board of directors at the annual meeting of shareholders as required by the mandatory retirement age in the bylaws. 

Dunham has served on the board since 1996 and during his tenure served as the chairman of the Finance and Audit Committee and was also a member of both the Compensation Committee and Executive Committee. He is the former president and CEO of Conoco.

Indianapolis-based appliance and electronics retailer hhgregg Inc. hired Troy H. Risch as chief operating officer.

Risch joins hhgregg from RadioShack, where he served as executive VP store operations. Prior to this, he held a variety of operational leadership positions with Target Corp., including executive VP stores. Risch will assume the COO position on May 5, 2014.

Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe's has named Michael McDermott to the high-profile position of chief merchandising officer.

McDermott replaces Michael Jones, who is transitioninig into the role of COO on April 30, supervising McDermott. He will be responsible for the merchandising operations of Lowe's U.S. business, as well as all global sourcing activities. He has been with the company since 2013 as SVP general merchandising. He has over 20 years of experience in the field, with previous stints at General Electric.

Marysville, Ohio-based Scotts Miracle-Gro Company named Randy Coleman as executive VP and CFO.

Coleman replaces Larry Hilsheimer, who has left the company after slighlty more than a year in his role.

Chairman and CEO Jim Hagedorn described Coleman as a better fit for the position.

Former Home Depot executive Troy Rice has joined Office Depot as EVP retail as the office products company continues to build out its senior leadership team in the wake of its merger with OfficeMax.

Rice replaces Juan Guerrero and will report directly to Roland Smith, chairman and CEO of Office Depot.
