Owens Corning has announced that Edward F. Lonergan, president and CEO of Chiquita Brands International, has been elected to the company's board of directors, effective Sept. 18, 2013.

Beacon Roofing Supply has appointed Jeanine Montgomery as VP and chief accounting officer, effective July 8. Montgomery is replacing current CAO Rick Welker, who will remain on board as acting CFO for approximately one month to assist with the transition.

Eco Building Products has sold another full house package of its Eco Red Shield protected lumber to TR Wurster Construction Inc. for a high-end custom project in Beverly Hills. Eco Red Shield is the standard in TR Wurster's projects, and it is positioning itself to gradually replace high-risk lumber in regions of the country that are particularly vulnerable to fire and mold.

Eco Red Shield Lumber is a treated wood product with a Fire Retardant Coating and added protection against mold, fungus, rot and termites.

HD Supply Holdings, the indirect parent of HD Supply, announced that it will launch an initial public offering of 53,191,489 shares of common stock.

The company hopes to raise $1.3 billion in its initial public offering, funds used to pay debt, transaction fees and other expenses. Shares of HDS are expected to become available through NASDAQ June 26.

Raleigh, N.C.-based Stock Building Supply Holdings announced a plan Friday afternoon to go public.

The number of shares to be offered and the price range for the offering have not yet been determined.

Some of the biggest names on Wall Street are lined up to assist the transaction. Goldman, Sachs & Co., Barclays Capital Inc. and Citigroup Global Markets Inc. will serve as joint bookrunning managers in the proposed offering. Robert W. Baird & Co. Incorporated will act as lead comanager, and Stephens Inc. and Wells Fargo Securities will act as co-managers.

Parr Lumber’s recent appointment of Jim Boyer as the new president of the company and its subsidiaries created a chain reaction of advancement opportunities for others at the Hillsboro, Ore.-based company.

Howell was promoted to fill Boyer’s previous position as the director of operations.

Joplin, Mo.-based Tamko Building Products has teamed up with EagleView Technologies to offer a new aerial measurement tool to contractors enrolled in Tamko’s Pro Certified Contractor program. 

Contractors will now be able to offer professional and customized roof measurement reports to their customers. These reports use 3-D modeling to create measurements, as well as easy-to-read diagrams and summary tables

Winchester, Va.-based American Woodmark Corp. saw sales rise 26% in the fourth quarter, with double-digit gains in each of its sales channels. 

Net sales for the quarter ended April 30 reached $171.1 million, as it swung to a profit of  $5.2 million, compared with a fourth-quarter loss of $6.0 million in 2012.

Oklahoma City-based Cedar Creek entered into an agreement to purchase the assets of All-Coast Forest Products’ distribution location in Denver.

The agreement is expected to be finalized by June 6. All-Coast will continue to operate in Cloverdale, Calif.

HD Supply Facilities Maintenance, a leading distributor of maintenance, repair and operations products, has announced the opening of its newest distribution center in Calera, Ala., approximately 30 miles south of Birmingham.

The new facility is the 43rd in the company’s operations network in North America, and the second new DC opening for HD Supply Facilities Maintenance in 2013. The company opened a 50,000-sq.-ft. facility in Secaucus, N.J., earlier this year.

Cedar Creek will now own that location outright.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony on the Spring Lake, N.J., boardwalk included Spring Lake Mayor Jennifer Naughton at Pier Beach and council members holding signs saying: "Spring Lake: Stronger Than the Storm."

Mayor Naughton thanked city workers for bringing the Hurricane Sandy-battered boardwalk back to the community ahead of schedule. 

The Spring Lake boardwalk was rebuilt using TimberTech, a splinter-free, low-maintenance, composite decking.

Dan Russell Coleman was a lumber industry executive, community leader, Air Force veteran and father. He died at his home in Victoria, Texas, May 25 at the age of 82.

According to his obituary notice, he was born in Waxahachie, Texas on May 8, 1931 and moved to Victoria, Texas in 1936, when his father accepted a management position with Zarsky Lumber Co.
