Louisiana-Pacific Corp. has amended its 2009 revolving credit agreement with its lenders and Bank of America, the administrative agent, to release the liens on certain assets of the company and its subsidiaries. These include liens on all equipment and real estate of the Nashville, Tenn.-based company and its domestic subsidiaries.

Dallas-based pro dealer Builders FirstSource has announced a new location in Clarksville, Tenn., approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville. The facility is situated on five acres and includes a 25,000-sq.-ft. warehouse. It will offer lumber, engineered I-joist systems, roof and floor trusses, windows, doors, millwork and various other building products and materials. The scheduled opening date is in early June.

CEO Floyd Sherman said the company is looking forward to expanding its footprint in northern Tennessee and southern Kentucky.

PPG Porter Paints has launched the Nashville Color Collection, a new palette of 75 colors representing the shades of the Nashville landscapes. The palette combines the neutral colors in traditional bungalows with the bold shades of the area's modern communities.

Every color has a story, including the musically inspired "Opry Gold" and "Glutch Green," inspired by the Glutch neighborhood, which is the first LEED-certified southern community.

The list of improving U.S. housing markets tracked by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) almost doubled in January 2012 with the addition of 40 new metro areas. The NAHB’s First American Improving Markets Index (IMI) now counts 76 improving markets, up from 41 in December, with 31 states and the District of Columbia represented by at least one entry.

ProBuild Holdings will close most of its operations in the Nashville market, which it serves from Smyrna, Tenn., the company has confirmed.

The Denver-based LBM chain, the nation’s largest, will continue to deliver gypsum board to its customers from its Spring Hill location outside of Nashville. But its lumber, millwork and components manufacturing businesses in Smyrna, 13 miles from Nashville, will close on Dec. 16.

Louisiana-Pacific Corp., the Nashville, Tenn., wood products producer, reported sales of $362.4 million for its second fiscal quarter, a 19% drop from sales of $447.5 million during the same quarter last year. Net loss from continuing operations for the quarter, which ended June 30, was $33 million, compared with a net gain of $23.6 million a year ago.

According to a report in the Nashville Business Journal, Dickson, Tenn.-based Fiesta Gas Grills filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection. 

According to the article, the company listed more than $35 million in liabilities and $15,000 in assets, with the largest secured creditor being Ontario-based Wolfdale Engineering, maker of propane cylinders.

Ashland City, Tenn.-based A.O. Smith signed on as the Official Education Sponsor for Quality Service Contractors (QSC). 

QSC is a trade organization serving plumbing and HVAC service and repair contractors.

As sponsor, A. O. Smith will provide many of the tools and resources used to supply contractor education to QSC members throughout the year as well as at the upcoming QSC Power Meeting XXXIV April 7-9 in Nashville, Tenn. A. O. Smith will also provide bi-weekly tech training, QSC HR consulting, and other online resources to contractor members.

While still waiting for housing starts to improve, Louisiana-Pacific posted strong sales gains for the year and the quarter, while overseeing growth in engineered wood products, siding and OSB. 

Nashville, Tenn.-based LP posted fourth-quarter sales of $316 million, up 14% from the same quarter last year. However, losses from continuing operations were $2 million, compared with a $47 million loss in the prior-year quarter.
