Las Vegas -- During the BMC National Meeting here at the M Resort, the Boise, Idaho-based pro dealer stressed team building and education.

BMC also identified outstanding individual performances. The 88-unit pro dealer recognized Christopher Cysensky as Platinum Salesman of the Year. Cysensky is the outside sales representative for the Pacific Northwest, working in the company's Tacoma, Wash., location. The performance-based award was given Tuesday night during the Sales Awards Ceremony and Dinner.

Las Vegas -- Memphis, Tenn.-based distributor Orgill recently signed a distribution agreement with BMC, supplying hardlines to the Boise, Idaho-based pro dealer.

The distribution and services deal was signed late last year, and replaces BMC's similar distribution agreement with True Value Corp. The transition is in its early stages, according to both Orgill and BMC.

Orgill is making its first appearance at the BMC National Meeting and trade show in Las Vegas Jan. 8-11.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted the trade mark "SummerWinds" to SummerWinds Garden Centers.

SummerWinds Garden Centers is a Boise, Idaho-based high-end retailer of garden and nursery products. SummerWinds operates retail nurseries in the Silicon Valley of California; Phoenix; and St. Louis. The retailer says it appeals to both the serious and casual gardener with a broad selection of premium gardening products and knowledgeable staff.

Salt Lake City — Near BMC’s West Jordan, Utah, facility, a builder is planning 177 new homes on a single plat. The project is expected to take place during a six-month window of construction.

Scranton, Pa.-based AZEK Building Products signed a distribution deal with OrePac Building Products, a building materials wholesaler serving the West and Pacific Northwest.   

Under the agreement, OrePac’s Denver, Colo., and Salt Lake City, Utah, branches will offer the full line of premium, exterior AZEK products.  OrePac’s Denver branch covers Colorado, Eastern Wyoming, Northern New Mexico and the Scottsbluff area of Nebraska, while the Salt Lake City branch covers Utah, Southwestern Wyoming, Eastern Nevada and Southeastern Idaho.

Bolstered by rising revenues and a successful, ongoing turnaround effort, Boise, Idaho-based BMC has been named the 2012 Pro Dealer of the Year by Home Channel News.

BMC will accept the 2012 Pro Dealer of the Year award during the Oct. 24 to 26 ProDealer Industry Summit in Savannah, Ga. The event is hosted jointly by the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association and Home Channel News.

Boise, Idaho-based BMC is rolling out mobile apps designed to turbo-charge its sales with a salesforce and operations recently armed with iPads.

One of those apps has the catchy and straightforward title: “Dude, Where’s my truck?” The app fills the need for anyone who’s ever asked the same question while tracking deliveries to a job site.

Boise, Idaho-based BMC is rolling out a suite of enterprise mobile apps called “BMC 2 Go” that will transform sales and operations business processes, making employees more mobile, productive and effective through high-value Apple iPhone and iPad applications.

Boston-based tech firm Apperian partnered with BMC to provide its Enterprise App Services Environment (EASE) as the iOS app management platform to deploy and manage mobile applications for its nationwide network of sales and operations personnel.

"The past year was our most successful year since our inception four years ago," said Alexander Toeldte, president and CEO of Boise. "Our EBITDA excluding special items was a record $340 million, we generated $121 million in free cash flow, and returned $169 million of capital to our shareholders through share repurchases and dividends."

Boise Cascade announced Jan. 17 that it was adding 40 positions to its Western Oregon Region mills in Medford, White City and Willamina, according to an article in the Oregon Mail Tribune.

Company spokesman R.J. Roberts told the newspaper that the Idaho-based wood products supplier has increased market share for its plywood and engineered wood panels, both in domestic and Canadian markets.

Boise Cascade’s Building Materials Distribution division has announced its expansion in Wayne, Mich., outside of Detroit, where it recently moved into larger facilities. The operation now includes an additional 80,000 sq. ft. of enclosed warehouse space, 6,500 sq. ft. of new office space, and 9,000 sq. ft. of covered truck loading area. In addition, the expansion provides an additional four acres of outside storage, as well as railcar unloading facilities.

Clearwater Paper Corp. has entered into an agreement to sell its Lewiston, Idaho, sawmill to Idaho Forest Group of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

The transaction includes the sale of Clearwater Paper's sawmill, planer mill, dry kilns and related assets, along with log and finished goods inventories and timber under contract, in the aggregate amount of about $30 million.
