Hurd is honored as U.S. exporter

Hurd Windows and Doors has been named a 2012 Exporter of the Year winner for marketing its Made in America products in 20 countries worldwide. The award was presented by ThinkGlobal Inc., publisher of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Commercial News USA.

The Exporter of the Year award in the Building/Construction/Hardware category was presented to Hurd’s President and CEO Dominic Truniger and Director of International Sales Scott Klieforth during the Asia/Pacific Business Outlook conference in Los Angeles.

Hurd Windows and Doors realigns operations

Superseal Windows and Doors has converted its South Plainfield, N.J., manufacturing facility to a distribution and service center. The move is part of the company’s plan, which began in early 2011, to centralize its manufacturing capability in its facility in Merrill, Wis., near Superseal’s parent company, Hurd Windows and Doors.

Lyman Lumber files for Chapter 11

Lyman Lumber, a nine-unit LBM chain based in Excelsior, Minn., has signed a letter of intent to sell its operations to SP Asset Management, according to an article in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal.The 114-year-old company also plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the article said.

Hurd Windows & Doors acquires SuperSeal

Medford, Wis.-based Hurd Windows & Doors announced it has acquired South Plainfield, N.J.-based SuperSeal Manufacturing Co, a 50-year old, privately held vinyl window manufacturer. 

The acquisition supports Hurd’s strategic growth plan to expand its product mix and address the shifting needs of multiple construction markets. The company intends to emphasize the replacement window market as well as new residential and light commercial.
