GE has donated $10,000 to HomeAid, a nonprofit that works to provide housing for the homeless. The 25-year-old, California-based charity is working toward building 32 projects in 2014.

GE -- which also donates appliances to HomeAid on an ongoing basis -- has donated some $750,000 to the charity since 1989 in money and in-kind donations.

East Cleveland, Ohio-based GE Lighting says it has introduced its most incandescent-like consumer LED portfolio yet, including more than 40 new LED products and fixtures.

The company also says it is helping the homeowner fill every socket in the house with the appropriate, low-energy bulb.

GE is behind the latest eco-forward move in San Francisco -- specifically, that of the iconic 16-ft. crab wheel at the gateway of Fisherman's Wharf.

Together with the Arrow Sign Company, GE helped restore the landmark with new LED sign lighting systems that will save an estimated 80% in lighting energy usage.

Nortek, Inc., a producer of ventilation, heating and cooling, and air management systems, has hired Andrew Bonham as group president, Residential Ventilation.

Bonham has approximately 30 years of experience under his belt in manufacturing, sales, marketing and e-business. His resume spans major companies such as GE, Allied Signal and Invensys plc. He has also opened manufacturing facilities and completed acquisitions both in the U.S. and abroad. In his most recent role, he served as president of Grace Construction Products.

Major luxury appliance retailer Elite Appliance has been authorized as a Dallas GE appliance dealer. As such, it has added GE kitchen and laundry appliances to its product selection, now available both online and at its Dallas showroom.

Of GE's kitchen appliance suites, Elite will offer the Monogram Series, Cafe Series, Artistry Series and Profile Series.

Xicato, a provider of LED modules for the retail and hospitality industries, has appointed two new sales managers to its European team. 

Ben Hamida will step up to the plate as regional sales manager for France and the Middle East. Previously, Hamida spent 18 years at GE Lighting as international sales manager for Southern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Hamida is fluent in French, English, Italian and Arabic and brings extensive experience to the table in driving LED sales.

GE Appliances has launched a new marketing campaign designed to showcase the company's products in a context that reflects the consumer's changing needs, including a new definition of the kitchen as a living space.

Two of the building industry’s largest manufacturers are collaborating on a new ceiling system designed for use in commercial applications. USG Corp. will offer its Logix Integrated Ceiling System with GE Lumination’s LED Linear Recessed Luminaires. GE Monogram will open its second design center in the nation at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart in March 2013. It will be located at LuxeHome, on the ground floor, a boutique showcase for home-building products and kitchen and bath renovations. 

GE opened its first Monogram Design Center in New York City's Architects & Designers Building in 2008. The NYC center has increased share of GE Monogram appliances in the northern region by 50% since it opened.

GE Appliances has opened its GeoSpring Hybrid Water Heater manufacturing facility at Appliance Park in Louisville, Ky. -- the first to open there since 1957. The new product and a revitalized facility, a $38 million investment, is the first of GE’s commitments to invest a total of $1 billion ($800 million in Louisville) and create more than 1,300 new jobs in the United States by 2014.

GE Home & Business Solutions announced that Maryrose Sylvester has been named president and CEO of GE Lighting, a global industry leader in lighting, systems and services for commercial, industrial and residential use. 

Sylvester, who will report to GE Appliances & Lighting president and CEO James Campbell, succeeds Michael Petras who has led GE Lighting since 2008. Petras is leaving GE to take a position outside of the company.
