LG Electronics and Whirlpool Corp. have agreed to settle their respective patent infringement disputes related to refrigerators, ending years of litigation between the two companies. Three pending lawsuits will be dismissed in the U.S. District Courts in Delaware and New Jersey, according to the announcement. All other terms of the settlement are confidential.

A new Internet retailer has entered the marketplace, promising name brand tools at discount prices, customer reviews and social media networking. The site, dwttools.com, is owned and operated by DWT Global, based in Delaware.

Current product categories found on dwttools.com include abrasives, pneumatic, power, hand and automotive tools. Brand names include Channellock, DeWalt, Irwin and Milwaukee.

Although the stay is only temporary, pending the outcome of an appeal, Martin Marietta must put a halt to its efforts to combine the two companies, which include a stock-exchange offer and an effort to elect its own directors to Vulcan’s board.

An organized retail theft ring that targeted 70 Home Depot stores in six states has been taken down by multi-agency task force after the arrest of three men in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Two other suspects are still be sought.

An article on Philly.com reveals that Philadelphia will have plenty of environmentally friendly projects to show off for GreenBuild when it comes to town in 2013. 

GreenBuild is the annual conference of the U.S. Green Building Council, and it will enter its 12th year in 2013. The event will take place Nov. 20 to 22.

Coastal Supply Co., a supplier of bagged soil, mulch and stone products to such companies as Home Depot and Lowe’s, has been purchased by Harvest Power, which processes organic materials to generate energy. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Coastal Supply is a Delaware-based company that distributes its products through 14 states. The company will be renamed Harvest Garden Pro, but Joe Kollock and Steve Liffers will continue to lead the company as co-presidents.

The idea of a nationwide chain of green building material outlets has been dreamed about by many eco-minded business people and investors. But it’s never gotten past the one-off stage, where successful green retailers push past their local markets with a successful model that can work in multiple cities across the country. Until now. 


The merger of Ecohaus and Green Depot, announced on Feb. 7, is a West-meets-East event that unites three of the pioneers in the green-building movement. Four, if you count Greenmaker in Chicago, which Green Depot purchased in 2008.

East Coast Tile Group signed an exclusive master distribution arrangement with StonePeak Ceramics in the eastern United States. 

Under terms of the deal, East Coast Tile divisions Best Tile and Tile America will use their infrastructure to supply commercial-grade porcelain tiles to customers and prospects in the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
