Soil and mulch supplier merges with biomass energy developer

Coastal Supply Co., a supplier of bagged soil, mulch and stone products to such companies as Home Depot and Lowe’s, has been purchased by Harvest Power, which processes organic materials to generate energy. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Coastal Supply is a Delaware-based company that distributes its products through 14 states. The company will be renamed Harvest Garden Pro, but Joe Kollock and Steve Liffers will continue to lead the company as co-presidents.

Vienna, Austria-based Mondi industrial Bags developed its Green Range line of industrial bags to help support the sustainability agenda of customers across multiple industries.

"Waste prevention, re-usage, recycling and composting will be the key words for sustainable packaging in the future," the company said in a prepared statement.

Rochester, N.Y.-based Harris Seeds, a provider of garden seeds, supplies and organic gardening solutions, is partnering with Worm Power to offer its organic fertilizer to gardeners nationwide. The agreement makes Harris Seeds the primary distributor of Worm Power in the United States.
