Briggs & Stratton is introducing its latest lawnmower engine technology, which is debuting on the Toro Recycler SmartStow mower this spring.

Mow 'n' Stow enables gas-powered lawn mowers to be stored upright at a 110-degree angle, saving valuable space in the garage using Briggs & Stratton's patent-pending engine design. This saves up to 70% more storage space via a folding process that only requires three steps.

To complement the baseball theme of its Grand Slam Power Challenge promotion at the National Hardware Show last month, Briggs & Stratton presented its catalog in the form of baseball cards. It featured a portrait of the product on the front, with stats and information on the back.


“We thought our customers might find them a bit more interesting and handy than a product catalog,” said Eric Loferski, director of marketing of Briggs & Stratton’s portable power and cleaning systems.


The idea may be catching on.

Milwaukee-based Briggs & Stratton posted net sales of $720.3 million in the third quarter, up 3.7% form the same quarter last year. 

Third quarter consolidated net income of $51.5 million up 20.6% from the same period of fiscal 2010 after adjusting for a litigation settlement included in the prior year period of $18.7 million after tax.
