“This was the best attended Forest Products Conference we’ve ever had, and it revealed a great deal of enthusiasm about the outlook for the upcoming year,” said Duncan Facey, VP forest products for New Windsor, N.Y.-based ENAP.

The industry’s top forest products mills and manufacturers will share their product expertise, strategies, and expectations of the market for 2014 and beyond, according to Duncan Facey, VP of forest products.

Beloit, Wis.-based building products distributor ABC Supply Co., Inc. acquired the distribution assets of Sellmore Industries, a distributor of steep-slope roofing, siding and windows with locations in Baltimore; Philadelphia; Buffalo, N.Y.; and Hagerstown, Md.

“These four new locations will expand and strengthen ABC Supply’s existing presence in these markets,” said ABC CEO David Luck.

“This year’s conference exceeded everyone’s expectations,” said Duncan Facey, VP forest products for the New Windsor, N.Y.-based LBM co-op. “Those in attendance heard the message loud and clear: Supply is a very real concern across our industry as we head in 2013.”

Fastener maker Simpson Strong-Tie has announced the acquisition of Fox Industries, a manufacturer of cementitious, epoxy, urethane, elastomeric and polyester coatings, grouts, mortars, adhesives, sealers, sealants, and membranes and custom manufactured fiberglass parts for the marine, industrial, transportation, commercial building and public works industries. The Baltimore-based company was founded in 1969.

Sherwin-Williams has agreed to pay $570,000 to settle alleged violations of hazardous waste regulations at its paint manufacturing facility at 2325 Hollins Ferry Rd. in Baltimore, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced. 

EPA cited Sherwin-Williams for violating the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), which governs the treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous waste.
