On New York's Long Island, Costello's Ace Hardware celebrated the grand opening of its Smithtown, N.Y., store. The Long Island chain also opened an East Islip store, bringing its store count to 17.
Vincent Costello, left, founded the family owned and managed company 38 years ago. His son, Michael, right, is president.
Costello's Smithtown, N.Y., grand opening celebration included door buster sales, bucket sales -- 20% off anything the customer can fit in a bucket -- and, of course, popcorn for the kids.
The 10,000-sq.-ft. Smithtown store replaces a smaller store further down the street. The previous store was a Do it Best member store. With the move, all of Costello's locations carry the Ace banner.
Inside the Smithtown store, the power aisle was decorated with balloons and banners for the grand-opening weekend event.
