KB Home elects Michael Wood to board of directors

Wood has headed up two companies and served as ambassador to Sweden.

KB Home's board of directors has unanimously elected Michael M. Wood, founder and chairman of Redwood Investments LLC, to serve as a director and a member of its audit and compliance committee.

“Mike brings to the board a notable blend of financial, housing market, policymaking and environmental sustainability acumen and experience,” said Stephen Bollenbach, chairman of the board. “In addition, his success in building a groundbreaking research and media enterprise that became the go-to resource for the construction industry makes him an outstanding addition to the board.”

Redwood Investments is a Washington, D.C.-based investment company specializing in media, real estate and alternative energy that Wood established in 2005.

Beyond his role there, Wood also served as the U.S. ambassador to Sweden between 2006 and 2009, working primarily to establish a cooperative relationship regarding alternative energy technology. He earned the insignia of Commander Grand Cross, Order of the Polar Star, from the King of Sweden in 2009, a top honor that the Royal Family bestows upon those of foreign birth who contribute significantly to Sweden's progress.

He was also previously co-founder and CEO of Hanley Wood LLC, a business-to-business media property specializing in construction.

He serves as chairman of CSP Business Media, LLC and is a member of the board of trustees for The American-Scandinavian Foundation in New York, as well as the board of directors of Capital Partners for Education in Washington, D.C.

“We are very pleased to welcome Mike to the board of directors,” said Jeffrey Mezger, president and CEO. “With his deep knowledge of and insight into the dynamics of the homebuilding and real estate industries and his recognized accomplishments in fostering progress in alternative energy technologies, we fully expect that he will make a significant contribution to our efforts to advance our strategic growth and sustainability initiatives.”
