Home Depot plans to build two showroom-style “Home Depot Design Centers” in Concord, Calif., and Charlotte, N.C., according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The stores will include lower ceilings and a showroom layout with an eye to total project design, according to the report.
Rather than building materials for pros and a selection of power tools, the new format will include a large, upscale furnishings showroom and more decorative items catered to residential consumers, particularly women.
Further additions include decorative home organization products, a more sophisticated gardening center, broader kitchen and bath assortments and more home decor products.
